i think that casual gaming is definitely bashed where it isn’t warranted. The hardcore label for gaming is also stupid and elitist.
but goddammit i hate farmville, not because of its casual factor, but how lacking in imagination it is. comparing it to plants vs zombies is almost insulting. However i can see how you might take that stance considering how annoying its critics are; the so called hardcore wannabes of this world.
Great episode moviebob. love this show.
Casual in the sense of minimal interactivity and adjustable level (from low to holy shit) of customization. I saw a game called Sofia Wars it’s a failbook game (as in you need money and to sell your soul just to play it) and it has more customization than WoW and less interactivity than playing a video on youtube. There isn’t even a one click combat. You choose where to be and the game automatically attacks someone and calculates who is the winner based on stats. Now that is casual
Hehe Strawman, man I love it when these guys creatively get back at all of those douch bags on the internet. You may have destroyed Strawman today Overthinker, but there will be more…there always are, sadly.
Also on the actual episode, I’m kind of warming up to the idea of accepting what the hardcore see’s as casual. I love some First Person Shooters myself, but you can’t really share those style of games with everybody, or grind intense RPGs for that matter.
@Bhalspawn If you still manage to find the Nostalgia Critic funny, I suppose.
The problem isn’t the characters themselves, it’s the creators intention behind making the characters, and who they are made to represent.
@BotmanR Except Douchey is actually funny.
@supermanlypunch It’s still a cheap and underhanded method for him to get viewers to side with his argument, and shouldn’t have been used in the first place. The fact that it was his own character who killed both Strawman and the Antithinker certainly doesn’t help the perception of the situation.
@BotmanR Except here he seemed to realize that Strawman didn’t really work and vaporized him.
“unaware that he has merely taken but one insignificant step to oblivion.”
Sure, it sounds deep, but realistically this means he’s not reaching oblivion any time soon. If anything, this means he has a long way to go before oblivion, so all’s good.
I think I would like a facebook RPG like Dragon Quest I can play cooperatively with my friends or alone. As long as my character remains my character and I can import him/her to other sessions, I’m all for it.
I am in 100% agreement with Bob’s basic argument. The so-called divide between “casual” and “hardcore” exists only in the minds of some delusional gamers. Nobody wants to be on the wrong side of history.
@GUBMENTxCHEESE because of your comment i turned the snow on at the beggining of the video
by the half way point i couldn’t see half the video lol…..
@BotmanR he kind of cleared up the speculation about all that on his finishing episode for that story ark though…..
There are 3 textbook examples of an internet personality creating an intentionally stupid and dis-likable character for the sole purpose of using him as a way to passive-aggressively insult his critics and demean their arguments.
1. Douchey McNitpick
2. Chuckles the Jester
And in this episode: 3. Strawman (and possibly the Antithinker as well)
lol.. straw man
I turned on the youtube “snow effect” for this video and it made the wood scenes awesome…
uum…first again…good video like these more than the antithinker
bob…
NEVER die
and keep talking
ill lisen to you FOREVEEEERRRR
